Successful Partial Pay Installment Agreement

The client came to Dickmann Tax Group after an excessively long period of non-compliance. The taxpayer had been self-employed and did not file tax returns for the last 20+/- years. The IRS and State of California had charged him with substitute returns (government prepared returns) and were taking aggressive collections actions against him in the form of wage garnishments.

Dickmann Tax Group worked with the client to prepare and replace the return assessments as swiftly as possible. While working on getting the client back into compliance, we were also working to address the garnishment issued against him from the Franchise Tax Board. Due to the egregious tax history, the state was unwilling to release the enforcement, however, Dickmann Tax Group argued the financial hardship the state was exacting on the client, and were able to get the garnishment modified. The state went from taking roughly 90% of the clients' pay, to just $100 a month.

We will be continuing to work with the taxpayer to prevent ongoing tax reporting problems, and continue to negotiate the best settlement to resolve all outstanding tax debts.
